Péter Mészáros obtained his degrees in music education and choral conducting from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 2004, while simultaneously studying German Studies at the Faculty of Humanities at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). In 2007, he was admitted to the doctoral program at the Academy of Music in the Choral Conducting subprogram, where he earned his DLA degree in 2013. He also pursued private vocal studies under the guidance of Judit Pallagi and Éva Lax.

Since 1998, he has been a member of the Discantus Vocal Ensemble as a singer, and in 2003, he became the ensemble’s artistic director. Throughout his career, he founded and led the Arpa d’Or Vocal Ensemble for twelve years and has regularly performed with the Purcell Choir, led by György Vashegyi, since 2000. Between 2007 and 2009, he was an auxiliary member of the Vienna State Opera Choir during the Salzburg Festival.

Since 2004, he has been a music teacher at the ELTE Trefort Practice High School in Budapest and has served as the lead teacher and conductor of the school’s choir since 2010. In 2008, he co-founded the Oriolus Chamber Choir with Zsuzsanna Weiszburg. He is also a founding member of the Sixtones a cappella group and the Cantica Aeterna Vocal Ensemble. From 2016 to 2020, he taught music at Pázmány Péter Catholic University, and since 2023, he has been teaching at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. As a soloist, he is primarily featured in performances of Baroque oratorios. From 2024, he will serve as the principal conductor of the New Liszt Ferenc Chamber Choir.

László Norbert Nemes, Director of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy of Music, has been conductor of the New Liszt Ferenc Chamber, founded and conducted by Péter Erdei for several years, since September 2014. His first appearance with the choir took place during his university habilitation concert in March 2014.

László Norbert Nemes received his degree from the Department of Music Education and Choral Conducting at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1992. A student of Péter Erdei, he was a recipient of the Scholarship of the Hungarian Republic. In 1999 he obtained a doctoral degree from the University of Alberta (Canada) under the supervision of Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff. He took part in several international master classes held by distinguished choral conductors such as Frieder Bernius, Michael Brewer, Eric Ericson, Simon Halsey, Robert Sund and Jon Washburn.

Between 1997 and 2009 he worked as Associate Conductor of the Hungarian Radio Children's Choir. He conducted the choir at numerous concerts in Hungary, made recordings and toured in many European countries and twice in Japan. In recognition of his artistic activity with the choir, he received the Bartók-Pásztory Award in 2005. For two years he was Artistic Director of the Győr University Philharmonic Choir and since 2009 he has been conductor of the Kodály Institute Choir.

As a music pedagogue and conductor, he has held workshops, master classes and seminars in Australia, Brazil, Canada, the People’s Republic of China, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Korean Republic, The Netherlands, The Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Switzerland and the United Kingdom several times. In 2012 he was appointed as guest professor and academic consultant in China’s most prestigious music educational institution, the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music.

László Norbert Nemes is Vice President of the International Kodály Society, Honorary Member and Patron of the British Kodály Academy and Patron of Education at the National Youth Choir of Scotland. He is a member of the board of the Friends of the Liszt Academy Foundation. He is Chair of the Board of Directors at the AGAPE Joy of Music, Joy of Life Foundation established for the promotion of the Kokas-pedagogy. He actively participates in the charity activities of the Ari S. Kupsus Salon Concert Society helping young musicians of the Liszt Academy to achieve their various professional goals. He is a member of the Lajos Bárdos Society.

He has given masterclasses and served as adjudicator at the most prestigious festivals and competitions like Arezzo, Cork, Debrecen, Dublin, Hong Kong, Llangollen, Marktoberdorf, Tours, Singapore, Varna etc.

The President of the Hungarian Republic awarded him the Order of Merit (civilian) Officer Cross in 1995. The King of Norway awarded him the Order of Merit Chief Officer Cross in 2002.

Among many awards he holds the Liszt and the Bartók - Pásztory Prize for performing arts in Hungary, Kodaly Prize of the Pro Renovanda Cultura Hungariae Foundation and the Honorary Doctorate of Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, USA.

In 2010 he received the “Merited Artist of Hungary” award.
